Abstract
A mathematical model to estimate the resistance of flow due to various groupings of tall vegetations (such as trees on flood plains) on the order of flow depth is given. The relative effect of various groupings of tall vegetation on the reduction of sediment yields based on reduction of flow rates is studied. This should be rather useful in determining the relative effect on flow rates and sediment yields by clear cutting and other selective cutting of forest timber. Keywords
