Interspecies “Transfer” of Delayed Hypersensitivity In Vitro with Rna Extracts

Abstract
When nonsensitive guinea pig peritoneal exudate cells (PEC) were incubated in vitro with RNA extracts from rhesus monkeys with delayed sensitivity to purified protein derivative (PPD) alone, or PPD and coccidioidin, the PEC were inhibited in their migration from capillary tubes in the presence of specific antigen. These data suggest that interspecies conversion of “nonsensitive” guinea pig PEC to “sensitive” cells was accomplished with monkey RNA extracts.
