Abstract
The interaction of metal particles encapsulated in poly-p-xylylene films and the gas phase NH 3 molecules has been studied. It has been found that in the presence of NH 3 the resistivity of the lead-containing samples could be reversibly changed by a factor of 6–8 within a few seconds. As a result, it is suggested that these materials could be used as sensors for ammonia detection in the gas phase. The response and recovery times, temperature dependence, and long-term stability of these sensors have been examined. Keywords
