Abstract
A twenty‐week therapy group composed often male members referred by the courts for alcoholism treatment following a‘Driving under the Influence of Liquor1 arrest is described. Most members resisted treatment initially, although all displayed symptoms of alcoholism. The implementation and process of this coercive group treatment setting is summarized, showing change in attitude and behaviour on the part of the members toward their alcoholism. The nine members who completed the group reported they were abstinent at termination. Specific recommendations found germaine to a successful intervention are discussed. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
