Abstract
Illustrative respiratory patterns recorded by means of the oscilloscopic respirograph are presented. On the basis of measurements made from these patterns, the following formulae have been found to be approx. correct for laboratory animals: tidal air (ml.) = .0074 Wt(g.); rate of 295 breathing/minute [image]= ...... ''-,-777[long dash]?.; max. inspiration (ml./- Weight (g-) sec.) = 0.15 Wt. 3/4(g.); max. expiration (ml./sec.) = 0.15 Wt.3/4 (g.); pressure drop in trachea = TTr . ,[long dash]t-t- and Weight /J j. + -[plus or minus] c 1 Constant It , retentivity or particles in nose = - . ,[long dash]:-r,. It was also Weight1 /3 found that the linear speed of air flow within the trachea is approx. the same for all spp. at corresponding points in the respiratory cycle. Keywords
