Abstract
SUMMARY The developmental morphology and cultural characteristics of Gymnoascus reessii, G. brevisetosus, a new species, and Eidamella deflexa, are discussed. Diagnostic characteristics are presented for these three species. The morphological development of G. reessii was found to be similar to what Baranetzky and Dale described, but quite different from what Eidam and Brefeld reported. Myxotrichum deflexum Berk., Eidamella spinosa Matr. & Dass., and Eidamella papyricola Saccas represent the same organism. The developmental morphology of E. deflexa was found to be essentially identical with that which DeLamater had previously reported.
