A ferroelectric image memory

Abstract
The proposed ferroelectric image memory uses the FE-PC combination (PLZT 7-Se-Ge). Recording is achieved by creation of polarization patterns which can be observed by scattering effeets. Nondestructive readout is provided by measuring the current photoinduced by a deflected Argon Laser beam, in absence of applied field. Three components are found: intrinsic photocurrent, pyroelectric current and space charge current due to the ferroelectric field effect in the photoconductive layer. Readout rates of some microseconds per addressed point are demonstrated using the ferroelectric field effect.
