Abstract
Seasonal changes recorded in temperature, evaporation and available light over a 2-year period on a forest and savanna site in the Olokemeji Forest Reserve closely follewed the changes in the external climate. Maximum values for these factors were recorded in the savanna tree stratum, and decreasing values through the lower savanna strata, the upper forest strata down to the forest ground where conditions were fairly constant the physiognomy of the two sites is used to explain this sequence. Rainfall throughfalling at ground level varied considerably from point to point: on average 97% of the climatic rainfall throughfell on the forest site and 84% on the savanna site.
