Abstract
Fecal samples, collected over a 2 year period from domestic dogs and cats, were examined for the presence of G. canis and G. cati in their respective hosts. The small intestines of mice were examined to determine the incidence of G. muris. The results showed an incidence of 7.66% for G. canis. The parasite occurred primarily in young dogs. There was no apparent correlation between the breed or sex of the host animal and the occurrence of the parasite. Three and five-hundredths percent of the cat fecal samples were positive for G. cati. Fourteen percent of the wild Mus musculus examined were positive for G. muris. About one-half of our white laboratory mice were infected with this same parasite.
