Abstract
An enzyme preparation was obtained from broad bean (Vicia faba) seeds capable of transferring D-galactose from UDP-D-galactose to sucrose, forming the tri-saccharide, raffinose. In this investigation the D-galactose moiety of UDP-D-galactose was labeled with C14. Although the enzyme preparation was crude, the percentage incorporation of label into the raffinose was relatively high and it is, therefore, probable that this mechanism functions in maturing seeds. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
