Abstract
A sample of 100 schizophrenic inpatients with relative remission of symptoms was extensively interviewed in order to know their attitudes towards their disorders. Scales were constructed rating essential features, dimensions, and their attitude as a whole. Three types of attitudes were distinguished (isolating, integrating, undecided) as expressing differently directed efforts of patients to cope with their illness. Proportions of the distinguished types of attitudes were estimated and connections between the attitudes and some social and clinical variables were analyzed. Keywords
