Abstract
Two cases of false interpretation of abnormal myocardial scan with 99mTc-pyrophosphate by calcified costal cartilage in the precorial region are presented. This communication reports the difficulty in correctly interpreting positive 99mTc-pyrophosphate myocardial scan in a case with calcified costal cartilages in the presence of abnormal electrocardiographic and enzymatic changes. Recent reports of false positive myocardial scans are briefly reviewed.
