Abstract
This report discusses pertinent schemes in finite element mesh generation. It is divided into two parts; node point generation and element generation. Node generation consists of automatically determining the coordinates of the finite element nodes. The basic node generation methods reviewed are straight line interpolation, sides and parts, electro-mechanical devices, simplified finite difference, the equipotential method and the natural coordinate system method. Element generation consists of automatically connecting the nodes to form elements. These methods are simple increments, sides and parts pseudo I-J transformation, fully surrounded point, and I-J transformation. Keywords
