Abstract
Eight rams were individually exposed to an estrous ewe for 1 hr. twice monthly from January 1963 to January 1964. Number of ejaculations, mounts per ejaculation, teases per ejaculation and time from first tease to mounting were averaged over monthly and 3-month periods. The average number of ejaculations varied significantly (P<.01) with month and season. The greatest number of ejaculations occurred in November and during the fall 3-month period. Monthly averages for mounts per ejaculation did not differ significantly but seasonal averages did. The greatest number occurred during the winter 3-month period, and the least occurred in the summer. There was a significant correlation (−.72) between monthly averages of ejaculations and mounts per ejaculation. Teases per ejaculation and time from first tease to mounting did not vary significantly with month or season. Copyright © 1965. American Society of Animal Science .
