Abstract
LEED intensity isotherms for 45<T<52 K are used to characterize the fluid‐to‐commensurate‐solid transition. The results are consistent with a first‐order transition and the incipient triple point model. Isotherms near 32 K show clear second‐ and third‐layer steps. The equilibrium vapor pressure vs inverse temperature phase diagram is constructed from data between 31 and 100 K. Some effects of heterogeneity on these phase transitions are discussed. Keywords
