Abstract
To the Editor: Ectopic ACTH production is one of the most frequent endocrine syndromes caused by "nonendocrine" tumor tissue. The most frequent cause is oat-cell carcinoma of the lung. The second most common cause is carcinoid. We report here an unusual example of the latter.A 30-year-old man was referred to us because of marked hypokalemia. The medical history was unremarkable. The chief complaints were muscle weakness and anorexia. The physical examination showed marked muscle weakness. Results of routine laboratory work were notable for a white-cell count of 8000, with undetectable eosinophils and 10 per cent lymphocytes. Plasma sodium . . .Keywords
