Abstract
The role of the lungs in maintaining amino acid homeostasis has only recently been studied. The data suggest that the lungs play a key role in glutamine flow in both normal and catabolic states. Further studies are necessary to clarify the regulation of lung glutamine at the whole organ and cellular level. Keywords
