Idiopathic Galactorrhea and Mild Hypogonadism in a Young Adult Male

Abstract
A case is reported of a 24-yr-old male with idiopathic galactorrhea and mild hypogonadism, who finally underwent bilateral mastectomy for control of his lactation. He was found to have reduced testosterone production rate and slight testicular atrophy (by biopsy); tests of pituitary function were generally normal, aside from elevated prolactin levels. The prolactin levels declined with the acute administration of L-dopa and increased with iv thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). The cause of the hyperprolactinemia, galactorrhea and hypogonadism is unclear.
