Abstract
In the postwar period the European welfare states undertook large-scale housing interventions. The primary purpose was to provide all households with housing of a good standard. The proponents of the welfare housing model argued that the housing measures employed would sharply raise housing investment as well as lower housing costs. The purpose of this article is to systematically assess this claim. Keywords
