Abstract
An amino acid mixture based on the mean minimum requirements of 9 essential amino acids, determined individually in previous experiments, is significantly inferior to either egg protein or an amino acid mixture which simulates egg protein. The essential amino acid requirements for the maintenance of nitrogen equilibrium in the rat and man are compared. On the basis of metabolic body size (kg2), several of the requirements are identical in the two species and several others are closely similar. Keywords
