Abstract
IN 1929 Leri and Weill1first described an unusual type of dwarfism that involved mostly the middle segments of the extremities with a characteristic appearance of the forearm. Twelve additional case reports have subsequently appeared in the European literature.2-5To our knowledge, no previous cases have been published in the American literature with the exception of a European case incorporated by Rubin into his monograph.6 Report of a Case The patient is a 21-year-old white woman born in the United Kingdom and presently employed in the United States. She was first seen in the emergency room of the New Rochelle Hospital on Jan 15, 1965, after sustaining trauma to her right forearm. An unusual deformity of the right forearm was noted, further roentgenograms were obtained, and the diagnosis of mesomelic dwarfism was established.
