Medication Compliance and the Elderly

Abstract
Elderly patients, with their variety of medical disorders and complex medication regimens, are more likely than younger patients to suffer, the consequences of medication noncompliance. The present article describes the extent of this problem, discusses factors related to elderly compliance, and reviews current research and interventions designed to improve medication compliance in this population. Methodological concerns are discussed and recommendations are made for future investigations in this area.
