Abstract
Synopsis: The effects of total available soil moisture, plant population, and N fertilization upon dryland corn production were studied at 2 locations, over a 6‐year period. Forage and grain yields were highly correlated with total available moisture (soil moisture at planting plus precipitation). Optimum population at each location was 10,000 plants per acre. Applications of N were of little benefit.
