Abstract
A suggested revision of the classification of baboons (genus Papio) was presented. This revision was based on application of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature to the names available in the literature and on examination of preserved and living specimens in museums, in laboratory colonies, and in the field. Some implications for a thorough, formal revision of this taxon were explored, as were some speculations about the relation of macaques to baboons. Keywords
