Abstract
Some of the empirical relations which exist in -type doubling are summarized. In particular, the magnitudes of the doublet intervals as a function of , and in relation to , are considered. The observed relations, although very varied, are consistently in agreement with theoretical work of Van Vleck (cf. preceding paper). Van Vleck's work shows definitely that the levels involved in the second positive nitrogen bands are both normal (not inverted).
