Abstract
Human tumors [Group A, 7 tumors other than cancer; Group B, 9 cancers], and 6 mouse carcinomas [Group C] were studied. It is difficult to classify tumors into malignant and benign. The transplantable mouse carcinoma may also be greatly different from the human carcinoma. However, the tumors of Group A may be classified as mostly benign, whereas Group B and probably C are malignant. If this classification be granted, it may be said on the basis of the analysis of these specimens that malignant tumors contain a much higher percentage of fatty substances[long dash]neutral fat, phospholipid and cholesterol[long dash]than the less malignant ones, a high phospholipid content being especially characteristic of malignancy. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
