Abstract
A discussion of critical phenomena in the order‐disorder transformation from the standpoint of the theories of Bethe and Kirkwood is presented. A comparison of the two theories is undertaken, and the best values of the transition temperatures and heat capacity anomalies, ΔCv, for the simple cubic and body‐centered cubic lattices are tabulated. The influence of anomalies in the coefficients of expansion and compressibility on the anomaly in the heat capacity Cp is investigated. Keywords
