Comparison of retention times of polypeptides in reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography on polystyrene resin and on alkyl bonded silica.

Abstract
Retention times were estimated for eleven-tryptic peptides of calmodulin, calmodulin and S100 protein on the various reversed phase under the same elution condition, that is, linear gradient system from 20 % (v/v) to 75 % acetonitrile in 0.1 % (v/v) trifluoroacetic acid. The comparison of retention times was performed on the various combinations of the columns: Polystyrene (Hitachi-Gel 3013-O) vs. C18 silica (Develosil ODS-3), hydroxylmethyl (HO-CH2-) polystyrene (Hitachi-Gel 3013-O) vs. C18 silica (Develosil ODS-3), C1 silica (TSK gel TMS-250) vs. C18 silica (Develosil ODS-3) and C18 silica (μ Bondapak) vs. C18 silica (Develosil ODS-3). The relationships in above combination were linear respectively except for hydroxylmethyl polystyrene.
