Radical Deoxygenaton of Secondary and Primary Alcohols with Phenylsilane

Abstract
Thionocarbonates and xanthates formed from secondary and primary alcohols are easily deoxygenated in 85-100% yield by radical deoxygenation with phenylsilane and 2,2′ -azobisisobutyronitrile or benzoyl peroxide in boiling toluene.
