Abstract
83 boys and girls from Grades 4, 5 and 6, 98 students in Grade 11, and 59 Ss at a junior college were asked to list and rate all of the descriptive sex names they could think of under the headings male and female. Results were partially consistent with the hypothesis that both males and females would list more names under the female heading and give the female names less favorable ratings. The names listed were similar across a wide age range and geographical location of Ss which were tested. Keywords
