Abstract
The reference strains Type A and Type B and 2 equine strains of A. laidlawii were examined for a wide range of isoenzymes using thin-layer starch-gel electrophoresis; in addition 2 isoenzymes were examined in 2 strains of A. equifetale. The type strains A and B of A. laidlawii were differentiated by their lactate dehydrogenase, phosphoglucomutase and aspartate aminotransferase patterns and the 2 equine strains by their hexokinase, lactate dehydrogenase and phosphoglycerate kinase patterns. The 2 pairs of strains differed from one another with respect to hexokinase, phosphoglucomutase, adenylate kinase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. The two strains of A. equifetale could be distinguished by their isoenzymes of hexokinase. The 2 spp. were differentiated by their hexokinase and phosphoglucomutase patterns. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
