Abstract
The orbital contribution to the magnetic partial differential neutron cross section is calculated for a realistic band model of paramagnetic nickel within the tight-binding scheme. The orbital contribution is generally less than one-quarter that of the spin contribution in an energy range up to ∼ 0.15 eV. At higher energies it exceeds the spin contribution and should be observable. Keywords
