Abstract
The article is a "report from the trenches" of work on interactive multimedia environments. We implemented a prototype computer system that combines aspects of an online community with aspects of a virtual reality environment. The purpose of the prototype is to explore the capabilities of current technology and to develop research directions for the future.Keywords
