Abstract
Analysis of synovial fluid for beta glucuronidase revealed a 200-to-1,000-fold increase of enzyme in such pathological states as rheumatoid arhritis and pyogenic arthritis in contrast to low concentrations found in degenerative joint disease or in traumatic joint effusion. Much of the enzyme is contained within polymorphonuclear leucocytes but some enzyme is present in the cell free moiety of synovial fluid. Keywords
