Estimation of the foetal age in pregnant rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta) by radiography

Abstract
A method is described to determine foetal age in the rhesus monkey by means of a roentgenogram of the pregnant mother. A number of anatomical characteristics of the foetus are compared with a series of roentgenograms made on monkeys with known gestation length. Best results were obtained between the 75th and 115th day of gestation, the inaccuracy being ± 5 days.
