Abstract
Liver scanning is a simple, safe and accurate method for improving the diagnostic accuracy and preoperative assessment of hydatid disease of the liver. Scan defects are nonspecific and for accurate interpretation the scan must be carefully correlated with the clinical, laboratory and roentgenologic data. The liver scan is particularly useful in elucidating right hemidiaphragmatic abnormalities. The simplicity and lack of toxicity of this investigation make it an ideal test for assessment of recurrence, but operative details must be carefully recorded to allow correct interpretation of postoperative scans. A normal anterior and right lateral liver scan is usually convincing evidence against a diagnosis of hydatid disease of the liver. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
