Abstract
Plants of Digitalis lanata are able to convert C21-steroids with a keto-function in C20 to buteno-lide derivatives. What pregnenolone precursors were used remains undecided. The amount of digoxigenin and gitoxigenin increases with greater length of the plant experiment, so that it may be assumed that a 12[beta]- and finally also a 16 [beta]-hydroxylase comes into action. It also seems important that xysmalogenin is formed. This is an aglycone foreign to the Digitalis plant and not previously found in it.This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
