Abstract
Measurements of the S wave were made from the records at Pasadena. The angle, β, between the plane of propagation and the plane of vibration was calculated for earthquakes from two main regions in three different ways. The results differed by so small an amount that only one set is given. The angle β may have a constant value for earthquakes from certain regions or main fault areas. Probable directions of movement at the focus are indicated. Keywords
