Abstract
In this paper, fundamental equations for analysing a large deflection of thin circular plate having non‐linear stress‐strain relation were introduced by expressing the stress‐strain relation with a third order polynomial form between the effective stress and strain, and taking into account the effects of the compressibility of material and the membrane force induced by the deflection of the plate. Though the above mentioned representation cannot be applied for largeemore than a certain limit, since the limit corresponds with a fairly large deflection of the plate, the result of analysis may be considered as useful in actual purpose. The corresponding experiment using an aluminium alloy plate showed a good agreement with the analytical result within a fairly wide range of strain and proved a high accuracy of this analysis. Keywords
