Abstract
To the Editor.— I read with disbelief the article by Gross et al,1 concering the treatment of children with a myelomeningocele. They stated "...it is prima fascie irresponsible to obtain knowledge about the results of surgery on high risk infants and then not to use the negative results..." I would argue that it is equally and probably more irresponsible not to use the positive results. The authors believe not only in selecting death—"if one is persuaded that death is preferable to life under certain circumstances" but also in the selective use of the literature.
