Evolution of a Pulse of Charged Vortex Rings in Superfluid Helium

Abstract
Experiments with a pulsed beam of charged, quantized vortex rings show that it evolves into a steady-state distribution. This behavior is shown to follow from the Coulomb interaction among the vortices and a negative effective pressure arising from the vortex dispersion law.
