Radiative Orbital Electron Capture inCo57

Abstract
The spectrum of the internal bremsstrahlung accompanying the orbital electron capture in Co57 was investigated in the energy range from 180 to 465 keV. The disintegration energy of Co57 to the second excited state of Fe57 was found to be 674 ± 30 keV. The ratio of the probabilities of the total radiative capture to the nonradiative 1s electron capture was found to be (0.98 ± 0.2) × 104 as compared to the theoretically predicted value of 1.35 × 104 for the investigated energy range. A comparison with the results of other intensity measurements of the internal bremsstrahlung is given.
