Abstract
An undulator which uses a microwave field instead of a static, periodic magnetic field has been operated successfully at the Photon Factory electron linac. When S-band microwave power of 300 kW is fed into the undulator cavity which has a period of 5.5 cm, an equivalent magnetic field of 0.45 kG and K-parameter of 0.24. At a beam energy of 100–500 MeV, quasimonochromatic synchrotron radiation in the visible region was observed and the spectrum was measured. Keywords
