Sonic Tag for Large Decapod Crustaceans

Abstract
Construction of a sonic tag designed for use on large decapod crustaceans is described. The circuit design permits tuning at various frequencies and its low current drain results in a transmitter life of over 2 weeks. The tag and power supply are packaged for attachment to the carapace and the battery pack is easily replaced and the tag reusable. The tag is now being used to study the daily movements and activities of the American lobster, Homarus americanus.
