Abstract
Numerical mathematics is viewed as the analysis of continuous algorithms. Four of the components of numerical mathematics are discussed. These are: foundations (finite precision number systems, computational compexity), synthesis and analysis of algorithms, analysis of error, programs and program libraries. Keywords
