Abstract
Three different gibberellin-like substances were isolated from the fruits of Washington Navel oranges (Citrus sinensis) and Eureka lemons (Citrus limon). Column chromatography, paper chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, f luorometric properties, and biological assay of the 3 compounds were determined. Two of these substances were found to be similar to gibberellins 1 and 9. The 3rd compound was not similar to any of 9 known gibberellins. All 3 substances stimulated growth of dwarf corn, 2 of them stimulated growth of dwarf peas, and only 1 compound stimulated growth in the cucumber hypocotyl test. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
