Leptoquark pair production at the Fermilab Tevatron: Signal and backgrounds

Abstract
We perform a simulation of scalar leptoquark pair production at the Fermilab Tevatron (s=1.8 TeV and L=100 pb1) with ISAJET. We also investigate the dominant sources of standard model background: Z*jj, ZZ, WZ production and heavy quark tt¯. We find that the Z*jj background is dominant. We also evaluate the signal-to-background ratio and find a discovery reach of 130 GeV (170 GeV) for a branching ratio of B(LQeq)=0.5 (B=1).
