Abstract
Ag has been intensively studied to improve the phase transformation of the FePt. The magnetic properties of the FePt thin films with ultrathin Ag top layers prepared by magnetron sputtering have been studied. The crystallopgraphic ordering of the FePt is significantly promoted with Ag top layers deposited on the top of the FePt films. High resolution transmission electron microscope observations suggest that the phase transformation is liable to occur at the interface of Ag and FePt.
