Abstract
Various methods for estimating the total lipid in planktonic organisms are investigated. The most suitable technique is used for the analysis of total lipid in the mysid, Neomysis integer. Seasonal variation in the lipid level of the mysid has been found to be negligible and no decrease in the lipid content could be induced by starvation experiments. The possible reasons for the lack of storage of lipid material in the mysid are discussed and suggestions are given for the function of lipid in this animal. Keywords
