Abstract
The transverse-momentum distribution of charged pions produced in 28.5-GeV/c interactions was studied. Scaling of the transverse-momentum distribution versus the "mean" variable was observed, independent of charge multiplicity, missing mass, and energy, in the central region. From the scaling behavior of the pions, the limiting temperature was determined to be MeV.
